See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

Source: Taken from a sharing on Facebook (this is for sharing purpose only).

I’ve come across this message on Facebook many times. Each time, it triggers my mind to ponder on the reality.

Few weeks ago, it dawn on me that we, human beings, are more prone to negativity – think, speak, hear. I truly experienced this myself as I need to take more energy to force my mind to think in a positive way. Of course, practice makes perfect. I started to read self-help and motivational books and articles last year and amazingly, I begin to eliminate negativity from my life with lesser effort compared to previously.

For most of us, when something bad happened to us, the first thing that came across our mind is to share it with everyone, especially on Facebook or other social media networks. The advancement of technology has made this intention much easier, without hassle. I remember seeing a message on Facebook suggesting Facebook to change “What’s on your mind” in the status box to “What’s your problem today”. It’s sad to hear this yet it’s the truth…

Sometimes, I do feel the need to share with someone in order to get over it – the anger, the frustration, the insecurity. However, I will try my best to bury that feeling in me and moments or hours later, I don’t feel the need to share the negative content with anyone anymore. Over time, I take less effort to manage it. Of course there were also moments when I couldn’t control my feeling and shared the message…but that will act as a “warning” to myself.

When we want to share any message, especially on Facebook etc., we can first ask ourselves whether it is necessary. Why want to rent that space to something negative? Isn’t it beautiful to share something positive, something that can lighten up the life of others, something that can inspire others instead?

In the end, it’s all about self-control and responsibility. It’s the responsible speech and responsible sharing. Who doesn’t have a negative past? As long as we take the first step to eliminate negativity, the journey will be easier for us. In return, we will own a peaceful mind.

Together we work our way to a better I, you, we for a better tomorrow.
